MEDITATION

Before you begin your meditation practice take some time to come into your space. If you have a special area go to that place. If your area for today is makeshift/temporary, make sure it is a place where you will not be bothered; let others know not to disturb you.

Get rid of any known distractions. If you are not using your phone to listen to the recording, then put your phone on silent and in a location separate from you. If you are using your phone then turn off your notifications for the length of your meditation. If your meditation area is a shared or communal space, turn off the TVs/radios/computers. Maybe your space today is a closet, or a bathroom, or the car, or even the washroom sitting on top of the dryer. Anywhere that you are is an acceptable space to become aware of your breathing.

If your space today is less than ideal and you find yourself getting upset, do not let yourself remain agitated. Acknowledge how you feel -- This is not the most ideal place (*deep breath). But even still, this space is quiet, or relatively so (*deep breath). I have a few moments to bring some awareness to my breathing process (*deep breath). I can be in a comfortable, seated position where my legs, back, and arms are relaxed (*deep breath).

Allow yourself to settle into your meditation space for today. Come to a comfortable, seated position.
